AMD outs two graphics cards for professionals

AMD on Monday introduced the FirePro 2270 and FirePro V5800 DVI graphics cards meant for professionals, specifically those in the medical, financial, design and engineering fields. Both have low power consumption and deliver multi-display capabilities. The 2270 is AMD's only low-profile, passively-cooled graphics card that can support dual displays and triple set support.

The 2270's fanless design uses 15W at maximum and less than 10W on average. It has 512MB of memory onboard and support for DisplayPort, DVI and VGA connections.

The V5800 DVI is more potent, at 1GB of GDDR5 RAM and a 128-bit memory interface, and capable of driving two high-resolution dual link DVI displays and stretch one application across both screens.

Both cards are now shipping, with the AMD FirePro 2270 starting at $149 and the ATI FirePro V5800 DVI starting at $469.
