BlackBerry PlayBook gets business side video
RIM today pushed the business side of the BlackBerry PlayBook in a demo video. Similar to what we saw at CES, the tablet can pair with a BlackBerry phone to get push e-mail in real time. The clip also showed checking Office documents using a third-party app and viewing controllable presentations with SAP's BusinessObjects Explorer.
The clip also shows multitasking and that the tablet could juggle all three tasks plus a video at the same time. Unmentioned in the video is that the PlayBook won't handle mail independently and will need a BlackBerry phone nearby just to get mail outside of the web until a later software update.
RIM still hasn't said when the PlayBook ships, but the device is unofficially due in March. The company did acknowledge that the tablet would ship at the end of its current quarter, ending in February, and would start factoring in sales at the start of the next.
