LG Optimus V official for Virgin Mobile US

Virgin Mobile today picked up its least expensive smartphone to date by confirming plans for the LG Optimus V. The sibling to the Optimus S at Sprint shares the same 3.2-inch 480x320 screen, 3.2-megapixel camera and 600MHz processor but with a lower cost. At $150 off-contract, the Android 2.2 phone is one of the least expensive in the US.

Plans for the phone are also considerably cheaper and start at just $25 a month for 300 minutes and unlimited use of both data and texting. The Optimus V should be in stores and online later today.

We tried the Optimus S at CTIA this fall and were impressed with the design for the price. While it won't upend more advanced smartphones, the design is relatively very responsive and had good build quality that isn't often seen at this price. LG has also promised a future upgrade path as it will update the line to Android 2.3.
