Thunderbolt rumored due for February 24 at Verizon

updated 03:35 pm EST, Wed February 2, 2011

HTC Thunderbolt said hitting February 24

Verizon's HTC Thunderbolt might ship later than expected based on a rumor Wednesday afternoon. The cell provider's retail managers have reportedly been briefed that the 4G Android range-topper would be in stores on February 24. The timing given to BGR clashes somewhat with talk from Verizon that it might arrive early and close to the CDMA iPhone launch.

Most of the more definitive leaks have pointed to a February 14 date or within that week. The scheduling is supposed to be for an in-store date but could represent the first day it arrives in stock as Verizon builds supply for a launch.

The Desire HD refresh focuses mostly on its fast LTE Internet access and the addition of 32GB of storage, though it should contain a carrier-first support for simultaneous 3G data and voice.
