Barnes & Noble pulls Nook Color from shelves

The Nook Color has reportedly been pulled temporarily from store shelves by its maker, Barnes & Noble for unknown reasons. Its LCD tablet is now backordered at Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble's own site says the device is not shipping for two weeks.

GoodeReader claimed that Barnes & Noble is trying to make the device hack-proof, as unofficial Android OS firmware has recently been made available that runs stock Android and both breaks the warranty along with opening up avenues to third-party apps. The company is expected to release a statement regarding this move in the very near future. The news thus far is unofficial, without any mentioned sources.

An alternate explanation offered in the tips is an inventory check or other stock update that requires accounting for every device, although this would be unusual as few companies need to stop shipments just to track shipping items.
