Kno tablets delayed but reasons unknown

Early buyers of Kno tablets are now known to have encountered an unexplained delay in getting their 14-inch slates. The hardware was supposed to ship December 21 but in many cases still haven't received their orders. An official statement from the company to Engadget hasn't clarified matters and suggested the company didn't have a complete picture of what had pushed shipments back.

"Things at Kno are going well," Kno wrote. "However, as you noted below, there has been a shipment delay. As soon as Kno has new information, we will share that with customers and can certainly give you a heads up if that is helpful."

The tablets are some of the most ambitious from a newcomer so far and use their own, custom Linux-driven OS to provide what's intended as a completely to-scale digital approach to college textbooks. They can take both finger and stylus input and have support for extra features beyond reading, such as media playback and a full web browser. NVIDIA's Tegra 2 drives both of the screens and, in our experience, provided a smooth experience even with the very large screen area.
