Microsoft's Vail project to be Windows Home Server 2011

Microsoft has reportedly settled on the name Windows Home Server 2011 for the OS that has been referred to by the code-name 'Vail.' Recent reports suggest the software is nearing the end of beta development; the WHS team briefly slipped a Twitter post suggesting the final release candidate will be available soon on Connect.
The company was criticized for making a late change that will remove Drive Extender, a feature that would have allowed users to access multiple drives as a single volume. Separate reports indicate HP has dropped any plans to use the platform for its MediaSmart home servers, as the hardware maker plans to switch to webOS for upcoming devices.
Microsoft is expected to ship Windows Home Server 2011 sometime in the next few months, though the company has yet to commit to a launch date. [via WinRumors
