BlackBerry PlayBook page hints at Verizon version

BlackBerry PlayBook page shows Verizon model

While the BlackBerry PlayBook was promised to arrive at Sprint later this year on its 4G network, a newly unearthed page hints it could also arrive at Verizon's high-speed network. The page encourages people to register and join a beta program, which is no longer live, that would let them trial a PlayBook before launch. The Marketing Werks agency owns the domain, whose clients include RIM and Verizon Wireless.

Whether the page is indeed an indication that Verizon will get the RIM tablet remains to be seen. Also unknown, as there is no mention of it anywhere, is if the device would be made to work on Verizon's 4G network. The page simply shows access to 3G networks when paired with a BlackBerry phone and built-in Wi-Fi, so it does not have a radio of its own.

Either way, getting the choice of buying the PlayBook in any guise from a second US carrier would significantly widen the options for the tablet.
