HTC Facebook-oriented phone rumor revived for MWC
Rumors of a Facebook-oriented HTC phone were revived again with a rumor on Thursday. The Android phone wouldn't be branded as a full Facebook phone, like some rumors, but would reportedly have a shortcut button to get to the social network. Few other details are available from the FT source other than that it would show at Mobile World Congress next week.
The claim is difficult to verify, since shots of the 2011 HTC roadmap have so far shown no sign of anything but HTC's typical four-button Android layout. Any Facebook-oriented phone would have to either reflect a late design change or a secretive model. HTC already has a layer of Facebook integration in its Sense interface that shows updates in the FriendStream app.
Facebook has repeatedly denied crafting a phone of its own and has usually just pushed to integrate its features deeper into a mobile OS. Many of the rumors may have incorrectly flagged the INQ Cloud Touch, which uses Android and puts Facebook widgets at the front of the stock interface.
