iBuyPower intros third-gen Chimera XLC gaming PC
iBuyPower on Friday released its third-generation flagship, the Chimera XLC. The company is touting the gaming PC's cooling capabilities as the most powerful in the industry, with a 240mm radiator, a 200mm main fan and five 120mm fans. The most basic Chimera XLCs include a quad 3.06GHz Core i7 and a 512MB ATI Radeon HD 5450. A 2GB GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card is optional.
The rig can be customized with a plethora of options, including choices of towers, neon lights and sound reduction systems. The chip options top out at the six-core i7 980X, rated at 3.33GHz. The company's overclocking options are also available, for 10, 20 or 30 percent more performance. While 6GB of RAM is standard, up to 24GB can be optioned up. The most powerful graphics card on offer is the Superclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 with 1.5GB of memory. Large hard drives and fast solid state drives are options as well.
The Chimera XLC starts at $1,600 and is now shipping.
