Thunderbolt a Best Buy exclusive
A Best Buy ad has confirmed the $249 price for the HTC Thunderbolt. Buyers will be required to sign up for two-year contract in order to get the subsidized price. The 4G LTE phone can also be had off contract for $749, but as it is a Best Buy retail exclusive, there will be little point in searching for a better deal.
The HTC Thunderbolt is the first smartphone to reach the US with 4G LTE, which should work out to a real-world downstream speed of 5-12Mbps. Otherwise it is quite similar to the HTC Desire HD and is similarly fitted with a 4.3-inch display, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor as well as an 8-megapixel camera.
It runs Android 2.2, customized with HTC’s Sense interface.
