updated 08:05 pm EST, Wed February 16, 2011

New devices based on WP7, Android platforms

Several of Dell's upcoming smartphones and tablets have reportedly surfaced in alleged internal roadmaps for the company's 2011 plans. The handset document, which was posted on WP Central, shows an improved version of the current Venue Pro, named the 'MLK' version, along with a similar device paired with the code-name Wrigley.

Like the Venue Pro, the Wrigley appears to integrate a small QWERTY keyboard that deploys in portrait orientation. The document notes that it will be based on the "next gen" WP7 OS, with a 1GHz processor, four-inch WVGA display, eight-megapixel camera, and 720p video recording.

The company also appears to be working on several smartphones geared for Google's Android 'Ice Cream' release. The leak includes the Hancock and Millennium, each featuring dual-core processors, four-inch 'qHD' displays, eight megapixel primary cameras, and 1080p video recording.

The tablet roadmap, which was posted on Android Central, lists the seven-inch Streak variant running Android, along with Honeycomb-based offerings carrying the code-names 'Sterling' and 'Gallo,' with screen sizes of seven and ten inches, respectively. Other notes include an improved version of the Gallo that will support handwriting, while the five-inch 'Opus One' and seven-inch 'Silver Oak' Honeycomb tablets are slated for the end of the year.

For the Windows tablet niche, Dell only lists two 10-inch devices for its 2011 lineup. Offerings include the Windows 7-based 'Rosemount' featuring a 1366x758 display, while the 'Peju' will run Windows 8 later in the year.
