Performance on photos, business cards mixed

MacNN has reviewed the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300, a semi-portable, sheet-fed document scanner. It can scan up to 600 dpi and do duplex color scanning, with automatic document feeds and page size detection. It also corrects skewed paper feeds and can output to PDF or JPG. Exports can be made to programs like Word, Excel, iPhoto or Address Book.

It scans up to 10 pages at a time, and can be started through a button on the scanner or by managing items in software. In testing the S1300 did well with documents, averaging about 10 seconds per page. See the review to see how well the scanner did with more challenging business cards and photographs.

The S1300 requires Mac OS X 10.4 and costs $295.
