Kno says pre-ordered tablets arriving in 60 days
The 14-inch Kno tablet has been marred by multiple delays, but now comes news of the tablet shipping in the middle of April. CrunchGear said those who pre-ordered the tablet were notified they are shipping in 60 days, and Kno confirmed this notification. If it arrives as promised, the tablet will arrive at schools, its target market, in time for the spring semester.
The Linux-powered tablet will be available in single- or dual-screen models. Whether these shipping versions will have the promised Flash support is unknown, but likely. Processing power comes from NVIDIA's 1GHz Tegra 2 chip. The single-screen version is priced at $600, while the dual-screen version costs $900.
Many believe electronic textbooks need to become more widely available before Kno can become a success in the classroom, though the startup is counting on the extra-large screens providing a perfectly accurate representation of a textbook to draw in publishers.
