Sprint hints new smartphone on February 24

Sprint put out a teaser on Monday hinting at a mystery new phone. The company didn't give out clues but asked users to check back on Thursday, February 24. Devices like the Kyocera Echo aren't due to arrive until later.

The unveiling may be for the HTC 7 Pro, one of the first known CDMA devices running Windows Phone 7 and promised for Sprint since Microsoft's OS launched in the fall. Other candidates are most likely to involve Android but aren't as definite. One option may be the Optimus 3D, though a rumor putting it at the February 7 event was discredited in timing. LG has said it wouldn't have the Optimus 3D going worldwide until the spring.

The iPhone isn't considered probable as Sprint would be unlikely to draw attention to Apple's handset through a brief tease.
