Last.fm 3 for iOS gets major artist link overhaul

Last.fm has quietly updated its iPhone app (free, App Store) to a version 3.0 overhaul. The new edition focuses more on artist exploration and will show concerts, including those that friends say they're attending. The update now shows recommendations for other artists or new albums and lets users search for profile or artist details on their own.

The app also brings a handful of new features, some of which are specific to iOS. Users can alter radio stations in mid-stream to refine the results. Two new Last.fm-created stations have also come about to give more choice. Everyone sees an updated interface, but iPhone 4 owners will get Retina Display support for album art and other visuals.

While the download is free, the mobile service is now subscription-only and costs $3 per month. Last.fm hasn't said when Android users might get the same features.
