iPad app offers BPM tracking, sound effects, loops

Little Worlds Studio has launched a new iPad DJ app, DJ World Studio, with a low-latency, vinyl- and CD-styled interface that supports multi-touch input. The app features both pitch-bend wheels and vinyl scratch turntables, with side-by-side audio waveform displays for easier cuing and mixing. It can import MP3s from any source and remix songs live.

The app comes with 30 free tracks, including trance, garage and house recordings. Sound effects include echo, reverb, flange, fade and bass boost. The app can loop one, two, four, eight or 16 bars and can do instant cross-fades.

A Manual tap can reveal the BPM, while precise manual positioning within a track is also possible. The app offers automatic tempo detection and beat matching and can sort tracks by length or BPM. It has dual high and low frequency EQ controls and a spectrum analyzer.

DJ World Studio works with the iPad, requiring iOS 4.2 or higher. It costs $20 on the App Store.

how the h*** are we supposed to use this with a single audio out on ipad?
or is this is a gimmick where people are supposed to beatmatch just by looking at the waveform?
