Utility coming soon to the App Store

DirecTV has announced plans to introduce an iPad app that integrates the company's range of satellite TV services. The utility allows users to organize favorite channels, browse sports games and view scores, tune into channels, or view additional information such as cast names or parental ratings. Playback controls and DVR management are also built into the interface.

Users can configure their own home screen to customize the layout for favorite channels, sports rosters, and modules for other content. The system works with any HD DVR connected to the home network, while the DVR functions can be controlled remotely.

DirecTV has yet to announce a release date for the iPad app.
