ChaCha files lawsuit against HTC over phone name

The human-powered answer service ChaCha has just filed a lawsuit against HTC over its Facebook-branded ChaCha handset. ChaCha Search Inc claims to own the trademark in the US as well as Europe. It added that it spent considerable money and resources on branding its mobile website and apps for smartphones such as Apple's, RIM's and Android-powered devices.

The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in Indiana. How exactly this will affect HTC remains to be seen, but it will likely pay some kind of royalty fee to the search provider. The phone is due to arrive in Europe and Asian in the spring, with a US launch less defined, though likely to be before the summer and at AT&T. [via TechCrunch]
