Update arrives much later than promised

Toshiba has finally posted an Android 2.2 update for its AC100 smartbook, several months after the promised time-frame of an October release. The update brings the standard set of Froyo features, including Flash support, along with Toshiba's own app market and additional support for the Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities of the 3G version.

A Carrypad report suggests users may see noticeable performance improvements, particularly during web browsing. Sunspider benchmark tests showed a 19 percent jump, while Quadrant and Linpack results were similarly improved.

The Froyo update is now available as a firmware download from the Toshiba Service Station application.
