Skype To Go service assigns PC-free numbers

Skype has introduced a new Skype To Go service that will let users call using Skype from any mobile or landline phone. It doesn't require an Internet connection or 3G data coverage. The technique works by converting a contact's number into a unique Skype To Go number with a local calling code.

Calling that local number will bill users at Skype's regular rates, whether paid for using Skype Credit or as part of a subscription. No PC or any form of installation are required. Setting up a Skype To Go number is free, and users can have as many as nine.

These numbers can be saved to a user's handset or favorites but does have an added associated connection fee of 3.9 cents per call.
