Fujitsu Q550 tablet to cost $967 in Europe

Just before the CeBIT show in Germany that kicks off on Tuesday, Fujitsu announced pricing for its Stylistic Q550 tablet. The 10.1-inch, Windows 7-powered device will come to stores on Tuesday, March 1, and cost a tax-inclusive 699 euros ($967). Other markets will have different prices, with the North American tag likely to be less and possibly subsidized by carriers.

The tablet will sport an Oak Trail-based Atom processor from Intel and let users choose from a standard 30GB SSD or a larger 64GB drive. There is 2GB of RAM onboard, and the OS is either Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional. The WXGA resolution IPS display can detect four-finger multi-touch inputs as well as a stylus. A Gobi 3G radio will be optional and bring with it 14.4Mbps download speeds along with up to 5.76Mbps HSPA uploads. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are standard fare. Fujitsu promises a full real-world day battery life, but hasn't been more specific.

The business-oriented tablet is said to meet the tight security requirements of governments and businesses. Advanced Theft Protection helps resist hacking, and a Trusted Platform Module for protecting data is optional.
