Fujitsu to show wireless monitor at CeBIT
Fujitsu will bring a wireless computer display to the CeBIT show in Germany. The 22-inch screen will use Smart Universal Power Access (SUPA) technology built into office desks for power. SUPA uses a magneto-induction transmitter to send power to the display without a need to plug it in.
Data is sent using a wireless USB system that's not named. Range is about 33 feet, and Fujitsu says the image quality is not compromised because of the wireless connection. SUPA was developed in conjunction with the Fraunhofer Institute and partners within a German research project that's funded by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs.
The prototype could lead to commercially available LED monitors within the next year, though prices haven't been revealed.
