Sony intros DualShock 3 charging dock for PS3

Sony addressed one of the more longstanding demands from gamers today with a new addition to its PS3 accessories. The DualShock 3 Charging Station can power up two DualShock 3 or Sixaxis controllers without having to plug into an actively running PS3. Sony didn't say how quickly the controllers would charge, but cradling the gamepads needs an adapter for each gamepad, one of which is included in the box.

The Charging Station is being backed by a new candy blue color version of the DualShock 3, although Sony didn't yet have it on show.

Both the dock and the candy blue controller are due to ship to Japan on April 21 for prices equivalent to $30 and $67 after including tax. Whether or not the new DualShock 3 hue reaches the US isn't certain, but most PS3 accessories ship to the US some weeks after their Japanese arrival.
