Sony said to bring out 4K camera prototype to NAB

Sony is said to be bringing prototype 4K video camera prototype to the NAB show in April. The thus-far unnamed camera will apparently sport an 8K, 20.4-megapixel single CMOS sensor (8768x2324 pixels), use a PL lens mount and output in 16-bit RAW. The working title for the camera is Cine Altissima.

Otherwise, the camera will have a Super35 3-perf size, and a dockable SR memory card recorder. At 24fps, a 1TB card will hold one hour of video. Chromatic subsampling is said to be 16:8:8 and would give it much more internal accuracy for red, blue and green colors than the 4:4:4 for high quality production footage.

Normal mode shooting can run between 1 and 72FPS, while a High Frame Rate feature will allow for shooting as high as 120FPS. [via PhotoRumors]
