Twitter iOS 3.3 adds Quick Bar for trends
Twitter put out a major update to its iOS app (free, App Store) on Thursday that gave it an edge over most other versions. The 3.3 upgrade gives iPhone users the Quick Bar, a new extra to keep updated on trends. Regardless of their place, Twitter members can see whatever hashtags or other keywords are popular and either tap them to follow up or swipe them to scroll through others.
Both iPad and iPhone users get an overhauled new UI that simplify writing a new update as well as snapping or previewing photos, including directly from the toolbar. Autocomplete now properly suggests users and hashtags, and web links are automatically shortened much as they are in the Mac app. Direct messages are put into a more elegant conversation view.
When it's an option, trends can be localized based on geolocation from the device's GPS or Wi-Fi position.
The update as usual is free and available today. Twitter hasn't said whether the Quick Bar or other changes will propagate to Android, BlackBerry or other platforms, but most that aren't OS-specific usually make the changes.

Is there anyway to turn the quickbar off? Some people may have no interests in the trends to shows and find it to just get in the way.
