HP previews connected 'Metal Watch' concept

updated 06:55 pm EST, Thu March 3, 2011

Watch features remain unclear

HP has previewed a gadget concept labeled the 'Metal Watch,' a wristwatch that appears to serve as a communication hub. The outward appearance mimics a standard tonneau watch with analog hands, though HP CTO Phil McKinney suggests the device runs a "full software stack" and connects with other devices.

Despite the promise of communications hub functionality, McKinney did not delve into any specifics regarding how the watch is expected to work. It is unclear if the gadget will offer some form of graphical interface, or any additional integrated features.

HP has teamed with Fossil to develop the Metal Watch, though a launch time-frame and further details have yet to be announced. [via Pocketnow]
