Meizu M9II may get 4in screen and dual-core A9
Meizu chief Jack Wong in comments has alluded to first details of a sequel for the M9. The informally named M9II would move up to a four-inch screen that would run at least 640x960 "or better," he said. Comments plucked by Shanzhaiji from the official Meizu boards also had the new phone making a hop to a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 1GB each for EAM and ROM, and a camera with a backside-illuminated CMOS sensor.
Work was being done to improve the antenna and improve the battery life, but Meizu would scrap the antenna plans if it didn't live up to expectations. The phone would hopefully have up to 32GB of built-in storage and would be just 0.37 inches thick.
Wong was also aiming for a price equivalent to $515 off-contract, but didn't give out a price. The M9II could be ready as soon as the first half of the year, but Meizu has been known to see products repeatedly slip after optimistic predictions by Wong.
The design strategy would uncannily follow what's either confirmed or suspected of Apple's own plans for 2011. A dual-core A9 is virtually certain in the iPhone 5 now that the architecture is in the iPad 2, but possible leaks may have shown a four-inch iPhone screen that would put the larger display in the same body. An eight-megapixel backlit camera has also been mentioned.
Meizu has regularly tried to clone the more successful parts of Apple design and, for the M9, leapt on the opportunity to use a 3.5-inch Sharp display that matched Apple's iPhone 4 resolution. Sharp is now thought to be making iPhone panels in new facilities and could help dictate what Meizu does in the future. [via MeizuMe]

Oh...
Does it run iOS? No? Oh, what a shame...
