HTC files Evo View 4G trademarks for Sprint tablet
Sprint's plans to bring out the Evo View at CTIA were virtually confirmed late Monday through the discovery of a pair of US trademark filings. Both appeared on the same day as they were found and cover mobile technology, including phones but also "portable computers" and PDAs, supporting notions that it could be a WiMAX version of the Flyer tablet shown last month.
If the Evo View 4G is the same as the Flyer, it should have a seven-inch, 1024x600 screen with unique pen recognition that can ignore palm input. The tablet would have a single-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon, a five-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera and possibly Android 2.4. HTC's choice of a phone UI instead of the tablet-ready 3.0 would be partly offset by a new version of Sense scaled to the larger screen.
Sprint should show the Evo View 4G at CTIA during its extra-long, 2.5-hour event on March 22, but whether or not it's ready soon isn't clear. Last year, the Evo 4G showed at the spring CTIA show in April but didn't ship until June. [via Good and Evo]
