Telus gets Fascinate 4G this week, PlayBook later
Canadian wireless provider Telus on Tuesday said it will soon add the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate 4G to its lineup. The twin to the Galaxy S 4G available at T-Mobile in the US, it matches the same 21Mbps HSPA+ download speeds, making it the fastest online of all smartphones available in Canada. The handset will otherwise sport the same four-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, Android 2.2, and the ability to set up a Wi-Fi hotspot.
It likewise shares the 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a new-for-4G front-facing camera, a five-megapixel rear camera and a bundled 16GB microSD card. Ship dates and prices for the handset will arrive later this week.
At the same time, a tip sent in to MobileSyrup revealed the carrier is planning an event for small and medium business customers where it will reportedly announce plans to launch RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook. The subject line of the notice read "Telus-Blackberry event for Playbook," leaving little doubt as to what it would involve. More details such as launch dates or prices are expected to be unveiled at the event.
