PS3 cloud save games live

Rumors of PS3 cloud saved games came true with an update from Sony. The 3.60 firmware update will give PlayStation Plus owners the option of backing up saved games to PSN, letting them switch systems without losing progress. As much as 150MB or 1,000 files will sit online.

The game data is accessible from any update PS3 as long as a user signs in, though only Plus subscribers get the initial backup. A subscription costs $50 per year and is also available in a three-month option.

Version 3.60 should included fixes and other minor features, and is also likely to try and patch more recent attempts at jailbreaking the code. It should reach most PS3s as of Thursday.
