Smart Labels offer another organization option

Google has added another feature for Gmail that aims to help users manage their incoming e-mails. Said to be a complementary feature to Priority Inbox, the Smart Labels feature is available in Gmail Labs. Once enabled, it categorizes Bulk, Notification and Forum messages and labels them on its own.

Bulk mail includes mass mailings that are still legitimate, such as newsletters and promotional e-mail, and is filtered out of the inbox. Notifications include bills and account statements, while e-mails from group mailing lists get the Forums label. Google said the new feature can act as an alternative to the current filters feature but can work in conjunction with them as well.
