Radio Shack starts up iPhone trade-in deal again
Radio Shack on Thursday brought back its iPhone trade-in deals another time and added new check-in deals. Anyone can trade in an iPhone 3G or 3GS in good condition and get a $75 credit towards any iPhone in the store. An iPhone 4 drops to $125 or $225 on a contract; buying an 8GB iPhone 3GS not only gives the phone for free but adds a $25 gift card for the store.
The deals start on Friday and will go until roughly a month later, on April 11. Radio Shack hasn't said how it affords the pricing given Apple's usual controls but may be using the iPhone as a loss leader to get customers into stores.
Outside of the iPhone, Radio Shack will also involve smartphones for extra deals: those checking in either on Foursquare or Google Places can get 10 percent to 20 percent off of many non-Apple devices. The deals will vary and also last until April 11.
A more immediate discount will also apply to Sprint's Android phones. The Epic 4G is dropping to $100 on a contract, while the 3G-equipped Transform will be free on the same terms.

What?
Radio Shack offered $200 for my 3GS when I switched to an Atrix. This was a store credit for the tradein, not a how-much-am-I-really-getting trade for another phone. I coulda walked out with a lifetime supply of AA batteries if I wanted.
