Teaser appears to confirm several rumors
T-Mobile has launched a teaser page that focuses on the 4G version of its Sidekick handset, which will be powered by Android. The company has yet to confirm any specific details, as the marketing materials are limited to a simple website page that allows visitors to sign up for more information when it becomes available.
Rumors of an Android Sidekick began circulating last summer, though the company was said to have been considering the move for much longer. A T-Mobile executive confirmed such plans in January, before a purported image leak showed a Samsung-made device built around the Sidekick's original form factor.
Aside from the full QWERTY keyboard and support for T-Mobile's HSPA+ network, further specs remain unclear. The device is expected to run Android 2.2.1, likely paired with a custom UI overlay that has yet to be detailed.
The teaser lacks any hint of a time-frame, though it is believed to be on its way sometime this spring.
