Google runs out of Cr-48 Chrome OS netbooks

Google VP says company is out of Cr-48 netbooks

While Google hasn't been forth-coming about the supply of Cr-48 netbooks with Chrome OS preloaded, a newly discovered Twitter update Chrome VP of Product Management Sundar Pichai revealed they have all been delivered. He reiterated that other companies' Chrome OS models will arrive mid-year.

The Cr-48 will only be available in the US, and not internationally as previously believed. The first regular Chrome OS devices will arrive from Acer and Samsung, either of which will be making notebooks.

The 12-inch testbed ships with Chrome OS in its beta state. There is an Apple-style clickable trackpad and a full keyboard. A Qualcomm Gobi 3G modem is built-in that gives a small amount of free Verizon 3G data each month. [via TheChromeSource]
