Sony NGP may go beyond Japan in 2011
Sony's upcoming NGP might reach Europe and other countries at the same time as Japan if a rumor is correct. Multiple sources said that game developers in Europe and other non-Japanese areas were being asked to wrap up NGP games by the end of the summer so they could ship in the fall. MCV took this as a sign the system itself would be reaching the continent at the same time.
SCEA's Jack Tretton has so far cast some doubt on a worldwide simultaneous launch, but he did hope to get the NGP to "at least one territory" by the end of 2011. Supply is often an issue with console launches since they usually only have limited numbers but very high demand.
The original PSP shipped first to Japan in December 2004 but didn't reach North America until March 2005. Sony's design for the NGP may make it difficult to get it out early for everyone as it will be one of the first handhelds with a quad-core processor and carry a new five-inch OLED screen.
