Xperia Play to ship by end of month with 6 games
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will arrive in the UK on March 31, the company said on Friday. It will have six games pre-installed, and the maker is devoting its biggest UK marketing campaign to date for the debut. All cellphone carriers and stores will sell the gaming phone, with alternative stores such as gaming stores also possibly carrying it.
Sony Ericsson's marketing director for UK and Ireland David Hilton revealed this info, and added that it's rare for a product to enjoy such widespread distribution. Many of the company's phones are either region-specific or only see limited releases before moving on to other countries.
Preloaded games will include Bruce Lee Dragon Warriors, Tetris, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot, FIFA 10 and The Sims 3. Another 50 games will be available to purchase and download through the PlayStation Suite. They will be made up of PS1 and smartphone games optimized just for the Xperia Play, though longer-term plans also include PS2 titles and Tegra 2 devices. [via MCVUK]
