Samsung robot vacuum streams video

Samsung has unveiled a new robotic vacuum cleaner that aims to move beyond iRobot's popular Roomba series and others with optics. The VC-RL87W gets an integrated camera and doubles as a controllable home monitor. Samsung's robot can send a video feed using a feature called Tango View. The device can't clean and act as a home monitor at the same time, however.

Users can see what the vacuum sees from their PCs, tablets or smartphones. In video mode, the robot makes 48dB of sound, and likely more than that when vacuuming. The video mode uses a light and a microphone to bring audio to the video feed as well. The VC-RL87W will cost 799,000 Won in Korea (just over $700) and is now available. [via Akihabara]
