Offers online rental service for new releases

Zediva, a video rental company based in Sunnyvale California has launched an online movie rental service for new release movies. For as little as $1, users can instantly watch movies wherever they have access to an internet connection. Zediva is offering users who sign up before March 31, two free rentals. Zediva claim that they will deliver new release movies online, weeks before similar titles become available online through Netflix or Redbox, as they will not withhold the online viewing option on new release DVDs as Netflix and Redbox do.

Using technology that took two years to bring together, Zediva enables customers to remotely rent a DVD and a DVD player located at Zediva's Silicon Valley data center. The rental DVD can be watched instantly on a wide range of Internet-connected devices, including TVs, laptops and smart phones with high-speed connections. Users have full access to DVD controls to play, pause, rewind and fast-forward as if the player was sitting in their own living room. The Zediva service also offers access to additional features like multiple languages, directors' commentaries, subtitles and closed captioning.

The Zediva service is compatible with PC, Mac, Linux, Android tablets, smartphones and Google TV. Movies can be rented individually at $2.00 for new releases, or bought in bundles of 10 movie rentals for $10.

created a new account and gave them $10 for 12 credits (introductory offer). Now their site is unavailable. Hoping they are just overwhelmed and that this isn't a cease and desist order.
