Samsung 3D VOD live in Korea; US, Europe later

Samsung made good on a promise made at this year's CES to bring out a 3D Video On Demand service in conjunction with DreamWorks Animation. The streaming service is now live in its initial Korean launch. It comes available on Samsung Smart TVs and other Internet-capable devices through Samsung's 3D app.

Users will have access to movie trailers and clips, 3D music videos, music concerts and children's 3D content. It's being touted as the industry's first VOD service with high-quality 3D content.

Samsung said the service will become available in the US and Europe later in 2011, though specific dates haven't been revealed. A more widespread, global launch is also planned, though no timeline has been given. [via Pocket-Lint]
