App supports cars from Chevy, Buick, GMC, Cadillac

General Motors has announced that 14 of its 2010-model-year vehicles are now supported by the OnStar mobile applications. The expanded list includes the Cadillac DTS, Escalade, Escalade ESV and Escalade EXT; the Buick Enclave and Lucerne; the GMC Acadia, Yukon, and Yukon XL; and the Chevrolet Avalanche, IMpala, Suburban, Tahoe and Traverse.

The company also announced several statistics surrounding the mobile utilities, which are available for Android and iOS devices. The apps have currently reached more than 56,000 active users, with over 1.3 million interactions.

The most popular task is said to be accessing vehicle data such as fuel levels, oil life, scheduled maintenance, and other status information. Remote door lock/unlock functions and remote ignition start are reportedly the second and third most popular functions.

GM also hinted that it is planning to expand the OnStar app functionality with navigation features, though additional details remain unclear.

    Totally Cool App

I have a 2011 Camaro SS and I use this app to make sure that I've locked the doors when I sometimes can't remember if I hit the little button on the Keyfob. It's also very cool to check the tank level, miles left, % oil left, and tire pressure when I am at work.

    Highly recommended!

I will be very happy to see a set up coming available to the JEEP's line.

    2010 Equinox

I am hoping that you add the 2010 Equinox to this list. Does this mean we would have to add a piece of hardware to the vehicle?
