Droid Incredible 2 firmware shows wireless power

A dig through the boot video of the HTC Droid Incredible 2 has confirmed virtually all its hardware details along with a few surprises. Although it's not present in the Incredible S, the Verizon phone will have "wireless charging" built-in, most likely an inductive charger akin to HP's Touchstone. In a further build on its predecessor, the Incredible 2 will also be a "global," dual-mode phone that talks to GSM and HSPA networks along with Verizon's usual CDMA and EVDO.

Most other details are exactly those from the Incredible S, but they do confirm a TI-made audio chip with SRS surround and active noise cancellation. The design is chiefly an amplified version of the Incredible with a larger four-inch (still 800x480) screen, a second-generation single-core 1GHz Snapdragon, and an eight-megapixel camera with twin Xenon flash. It should handle more tasks at once with a large 768MB of RAM and better app management from Android 2.3.

The Incredible 2 has started showing in Best Buy inventory and has otherwise shown signs of being near ready. It may be unveiled at the CTIA mobile expo this coming week and could ship relatively soon afterwards. [via Droid-Life]
