Device pairs keyboard dock with Android 3.0 tablet

ASUS is reportedly planning to launch its Eee Pad Transformer tablet slightly ahead of schedule for customers in Taiwan. The Transformer setup centers around the EP101TC, an Android 3.0-based tablet with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. Users can dock the tablet to a keyboard with a folding hinge when a netbook form factor is preferred.

The device is powered by NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 chipset, which is paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of storage. Battery life for the standalone tablet is unclear, though the dock is claimed to extend power for up to 16 hours. Users can also take advantage of dual cameras and HDMI output for connecting external displays.

ASUS initially promised to offer the Transformer with a sub-$400 price tag, though the tablet alone is said to cost the equivalent of $560 for customers in Spain. It remains unclear if the US launch will also occur ahead schedule; the original time-frame pointed to April. [via SlashGear and Android Community]
