Xoom Wi-Fi in Canada on April 8, 3G coming later
Motorola on Monday announced it will ship the Wi-Fi version of its Xoom tablet in Canada in April. It's now available for pre-order at Future Shop and Best Buy, priced at $600 CAD ($614) and $650 CAD ($665), respectively. Provider Telus will also carry the Wi-Fi device, pricing it from $600 CAD.
Telus will allow tethering to mobile Wi-Fi hotspot smartphones.
A 3G version is due mid-year, likely coming to Telus but maybe some other providers as well. Accessories for the tablet will also launch, including a standard ($90CAD) and speaker dock ($200 CAD), Bluetooth keyboard ($80 CAD) and a portfolio case ($60 CAD) at Future Shop.
The 10.1-inch tablet runs on Android 3.0 and sports a 1GHz dual-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. The resolution is 1280x800, but HDMI out allows for connecting to TVs. There is 32GB of storage space, and both a five- and two-megapixel camera.
