Nintendo 3DS launch events slated for Saturday
Nintendo will hold a number of all-day launch events for its 3DS portable console on Saturday, March 26. The main event will be hosted by the Union Square Best Buy in New York City and include giveaways, snack trucks, a DJ and live music performances, and more. Starting at midnight, shoppers at each of the 10 locations will have the option of buying the 3DS for the first time in the US.
The first 300 people in line to buy the console at Union Square will get free cases for the 3DS, and Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime will be on hand to oversee the festivities. The first 25 buyers at the other locations will get the special free case. At each location, visitors will have a chance to sample the device and 3DS cinch sacks and T-Shirts will be given away.
Available games to try out will include nintendogs + cats, Pilotwings Resort and Steel Diver, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Madden NFL Football, LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars and Asphalt 3D.
The 3DS will cost $250.
