Google may see antitrust cases in Ohio, Wisconsin
Google may face two separete antitrust cases by regulators in Ohio and Wisconsin as a result of its business practices, Bloomberg reported on Thursday. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is considering doing so, though specific information isn't known. Wisconsin's Attorney General JB Van Hollen is looking into a Google's bid to buy ITA software, something the US Justice Department is already reviewing.
ITA software provides online travel search information, leading competitors such as Expedia and Travelocity to raise concerns. Google would get a monopoly in the category if it successfully buys out ITA. The acquisition started being reviewed by the US Department of Justice for the past eight months.
Antitrust investigations are launched when a company is believed to use dominance in a market to restrain competition and harm consumers.
