Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi at Cellular South with MiFi
Cellular South took a different approach to the Motorola Xoom on Thursday by launching it through a unique bundle. Rather than opt for the $800 3G version, it will follow Verizon's cue with the original iPad and optionally bundle the Wi-Fi Xoom with a free MiFi 2200. The deal lets users get online with as many as five devices, none of which have to be the Android 3.0 tablet.
Its version is largely off the shelf and has the same 32GB of built-in storage as the Verizon and independent Wi-Fi versions. As the first Android 3.0 tablet, it packs the reference dual-core Tegra 2 processor, a rear five megapixel camera, and a front two-megapixel camera. Flash is now an option, although microSDHC card support is still waiting on a Motorola update.
Carrier stores should start picking up the Xoom in early April. Plans for the MiFi start at $20 for 3GB of data.
