Buffalo to ship portable Blu-ray writer in Japan

Japan's peripherals maker Buffalo has just introduced its first portable Blu-ray writer. The BRXL-PC6U2-BK uses two USB 2.0 connections for power and signal and can write data to 128GB BDXL discs at up to 4x. It weighs 340 grams and is one of the few portable BD writers available on the market.

Buffalo bundles the drive with Cyberlink's PowerDVD10 BD edition, Power Director 8 HE and PowerProducer 5 software. The drive ships in Japan by the end of March, priced at the equivalent of about $286. North American release dates haven't been revealed. [via Akihabara]
