App removed ahead of Xperia Play launch

A PlayStation emulator, psx4droid, has been removed from the Android Market. In a Twitter post, the developer suggested Google pulled the title due to a "Content Policy violation," though it remains unclear if the move was related to conflicts with Sony's intellectual property or that of other developers distributing similar emulators.

As noted in a Mobiputing report, Google has yet to remove FPse from the Android Market. Both apps share the same basic functionality, though FPSe reportedly utilizes similar code to that of another emulator, PCSX, without maintaining the GPL license of the latter title.

Interestingly enough, the timing of psx4droid's removal appears to coincide with Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play launch. The Android 2.3 device focuses on PlayStation gaming, including PS1 titles and other PlayStation Suite content.
