HTC Pyramid spotted powered up with Android 2.3
HTC's flagship Pyramid has been spotted again in a scoop that has shown it running and also put to rest some rumors. Despite claims it would use Android 3.0, a source showed XDA-Developers proof it was still using Android 2.3, much like the closely related Evo 3D. The confusion likely came from HTC's use of Sense 3.0, which adds 3D home screen switching among other changes.
The device's hardware profile in Android also gave an opportunity to confirm the widely suspected specifications. Apart from the use of 14.4Mbps HSPA 3G instead of WiMAX, it should be much like the Evo 3D and carry a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor with 768MB of RAM, a sharp 540x960 screen, an eight-megapixel back camera, and a VGA camera in the front. The glasses-free 3D is expected to be unique to Sprint in the US.
With CTIA having passed, the phone isn't due to be launched in the near future. Tips have still attached it to T-Mobile and could have it ship in the US in the late spring.
